How we calculate, and where our data comes from
Transparency is our foundation. Here is the match formula, cost calculation, data sources and update frequency in full.
Match formula
Match (%) = Σ(weight × score) ÷ Σ(weight × 5) × 100 − penalties
Weights (0–3) come from your answers: criteria you said matter get higher weights. Each place scores 0–5 on 17 criteria: 13 are our team's ratings (beach, food, safety…), 4 are computed from your conditions (weather — for your month, cost — against your budget, flight — time and stops, visa — Mongolian passport rules).
Penalties apply when a place is more than 5% over budget, the sea is too cold when swimming is a must, the visa stay is too short, or it's the rainy season. Places breaking hard conditions (visa-free only, max flight time, already visited) are listed separately.
Criteria
Cost calculation
Total = flights (return fare × traveller factor: adult 1, child 0.75, infant 0.1) + stay (nightly rate for the level × nights) + food (self-catering/eating out/mixed) + local transport + sights + visa. Real prices (flights, hotels) are used when available, otherwise researched averages.

Data date per destination
Last reviewed: 2026-10-03 — When destination content was last edited (admin edit, a human-approved AI visa check, or seed). "Looks wrong" reports are reviewed within 7 days.
Checked by people
Our team collects visa rules, sights and scores from sources and records the date. We review “looks wrong” reports weekly. AI-suggested updates are only published after a human checks them.
Limitations
Flight and hotel prices can change in moments. Aviasales prices are the cheapest found in the last 48 hours of searches, not a booking guarantee. Weather figures are long-term averages. Check official sources before making final decisions.
