Amarbayasgalant Monastery

Built in 1727–1736 to honour Zanabazar, at the foot of Mt Bürenkhaan. Over 2,000 monks lived here in 1936, about 50–60 today; it was restored with UNESCO's help in 1975–1990. The last 30–35 km of road are dirt and get muddy after rain.
